Program Overview:

Day 1: Orientation & Skills Building (Sept 30, 2024)
Time: 5:00pm – 7:30pm (2 hours 30 minutes)
Location: TBD
Sessions Include:

  • Welcome & Orientation (20 min): Introduction to the competition, expectations, and overview.
  • Introduction to Business Case Competitions (30 min): Overview of competition formats, judging criteria, and case types.
  • Inclusivity in Problem-Solving (30 min): Learn how diverse perspectives strengthen real-world problem-solving.
  • Stress Management During Competition (30 min): Techniques for handling stress and staying focused.
  • How to Face an Audience (30 min): Tips on public speaking and overcoming stage fright to engage with confidence.
  • Break: 10 minutes

Day 2: Training & Practice Sessions (Oct 7, 2024)
Time: 5:00pm – 7:00pm (2 hours)

Sessions Include:

  • Solution-Focused Ideas for Case Competitions (30 min): Brainstorming and developing innovative solutions for case challenges.
  • Team Collaboration & Effective Communication (30 min): Learn how to work effectively as a team and communicate ideas clearly.
  • Presentation Skills Development (30 min): Interactive session to improve presentation skills with real-time feedback.
  • Decision-Making Processes & Strategic Thinking (30 min): Discover strategies for making smart, data-driven decisions in high-pressure scenarios.
  • Break: 15 minutes

Day 3: Practice Session (Oct 21, 2024)
Time: 5:00pm – 6:30pm (90 minutes)

  • Teams will participate in a mock case presentation and receive feedback from mentors or peers to refine their strategies and presentation style.

Day 4: Final Competition (Oct 24, 2024)
Time: 1:00pm – 4:00pm

  • Final Competition for Contestants:
    Each team will present their case solutions to a panel of judges, addressing real-world challenges facing the University of Missouri. This session will be the culmination of all their work, focusing on their ability to present innovative solutions, handle critical questions, and communicate effectively under pressure.
    Teams will also have the opportunity to network with leaders and peers, competing for awards and campus-wide recognition.
